About Conservation Capture
Our Mission
Conservation Capture is a charitable foundation committed to enhancing the well-being of local communities through the protection and development of wildlife ecology in Mbire South, Zimbabwe, and beyond. Our approach centers on community conservation, tackling poaching, fostering early education, championing marine conservation, promoting forest restoration, and shaping environmental policy.
To achieve our goals, we are actively involved in converting hunting lodges into photo safari lodges. By transforming these spaces, we not only contribute to the shift away from hunting practices but also ensure that the areas we refurbish become self-sufficient in the long run. This innovative approach aims to create sustainable solutions, allowing the refurbished regions to thrive economically while fostering wildlife conservation and responsible tourism.
Our History
Conservation Capture is a new non-profit organisation established in 2023 - we are yet to make history! However, our first project involves raising funds from donors to transition the Mbire South CAMPFIRE area from a predominantly consumptive (Safari Hunting) revenue generator to a 100% non-consumptive and fully self-sustainable operation. The concept is that donors will be willing to fund a project that benefits both wildlife and local villagers if it does not involve safari hunting. Traditionally hunting in an area such as Mbire South, Zimbabwe has been the only viable source of revenue from tourist activities. Our goal is to generate enough sustainable revenue through photo safari camps so that Mbire South does not become dependent on donor funding to maintain the area.
Our Goal
Mbire South, Zimbabwe is home to a diverse array of wildlife, but many species are currently facing significant challenges due to habitat destruction, poaching, and other threats. At Conservation Capture, we are committed to addressing these challenges through a variety of conservation efforts, including habitat restoration, community education programs, and anti-poaching initiatives.
